Re: For Producers / Digital label owners starting out.

Wow what a great initiative! Glad to see it works out for you. Right now I'm working in IT 4 days one week, 5 days next week, so I have got 1 full day off for music and I'm busy with it every day, every spare minute is spend on a track. I've been doing it (seriously) for 2+ years now. I can't quit t...

Re: Sub bass under kick OR under bassline

Well I have got this Multiband Dynamics thing in Ableton where you can separate each band. I don't know if you use Ableton but you can make Audio Effect Racks. Then create 3 chains (Lo,Mid,High) 3 Multiband Dynamics fx (select your solo freq on each so lo, mid and highs) on each chain. Process each ...

Re: Sub bass under kick OR under bassline

Wow that was interesting!

Ok well. I found another way to do it: split the bass in 3 frequency bands. Lows, < 120 hz, Mids, 120 <> 1,5 khz and Highs 1,5 khz >.
Sidechain the lower frequency band on the kick. And separate processing inserts for mids and highs.

Using "real" instruments

Guys, So far I have been working with synths for producing my music, bass, chords etc. However if I want to make a track with a (bass)guitar for my lead, bass or something else what do most of the producers use? Samples? Live performance recording? Like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1-NeN7fEqE

Re: How to get that techno sound?

There is no "one techno sound". Learn what makes the different genres tick. Like house/garage uses many different phrases (verse/chorus) in a song each with different characteristics like vocals cut off, rimshots before and after the snare/clap etc etc. Techno used to be made of loops runn...

Re: Patch design, the next step, where to go?

Thanks Rein. About the filters, you're right. But I'm looking into ways of taking it a step further. I kinda remember something about combining patches from different tracks with the different notes from chords. First note from patch1, third note from patch2 etc etc. I'm gonna experiment with that.

Patch design, the next step, where to go?

Guys, When creating patches for my music I just create a patch in my synthesizer, play in the midi, insert my effects (saturation, delay, reverb) and that's it. However when I'm listening to like Maya for example. Her sounds are so well designed and sound round and deep, they don't sound as dry as my ...
