Re: zip, pantytec, dimbiman etc. - electribes

It's definitely not all Ableton because it didn't exist in the late 1990's.

There was a picture of his studio going around a while ago but I can't remember where I saw it.

Re: Which synth/groovebox/whatever for all round production?

Ableton Push would be a better investment. Groove boxes can be fun but most of them are very limited and make production more complicated. I got a Korg EMX gathering dust.

Re: 2000 - 2005 period

You might think it's stupid mentioning the lack of white noise build ups but they were on lots of records since 2005. Maybe cheap frills would be a better description of the effects I'm talking about.

Re: 2000 - 2005 period

With these tracks I'd say there's more effort put into the musical content and less in the production. Not that these are badly produced or anything, but there's no white noise build ups, special effects or trying to sound like L.I.E.S.

Re: Managing swing/shuffle on different instruments.

Ableton seems more trouble than it's worth. You don't get swing problems in Reason (unless you want them) as Redrum, Matrix and RPG-8 all sync to the same swing.

Reason is the most techno thing in software. I don't know why it gets overlooked so much.

Re: Software drum machine/sampler w/ step sequencer?

Just use Reason and forget about Ableton. :)
Redrum is awesome, especially when you hook up some Matrix to get fills or polyrhythms. All the CV stuff is far too good to ignore.

Re: fck Reissues!

You could argue that reissues keep the standard of new music higher. If you're worried that your release is going to get overlooked because of reissues, maybe it's not worth releasing?

Maybe they ran out of music to steal? ;)
