e·va·sion [ɪˈveɪʒən]
n.
1. The act of evading or escaping, especially from a distasteful duty, responsibility, etc., by trickery, cunning, or illegal means tax evasion
2. Trickery, cunning, or deception used to dodge a question, duty, etc.; means of evading

We live in an age of evasion. A saga of elusiveness dominated by the transitory and mystical nature of capital. The flight of production to the cheapest sources of labor eludes the problem of decent wages and high production costs for the capitalists who consistently seek ways to circumvent notions of responsibility and accountability. Cash and credit rule the world, but are simply nothing but cunning ruses disguising the theft of our individual and collective labor. As I write, the U.S. government ponders the printing of a trillion-dollar coin, designed to alleviate its debt problems. The idea is to evade the current crisis by continuing to use the most powerful weapon keeping capitalism alive, the human imagination. Economics is black magic. Its most reliable tool is sleight of hand. The capitalist class uses fancy footwork to fudge numbers and manipulate the system to the detriment of the poor, who sadly often seek to be in the shoes of those who make life miserable for others.

The fine art of evasion is not only to be utilized by that segment of humanity who finds joy in facilitating human misery. The greed mongers and self-absorbed individuals who dominate the social landscape of capitalist society must acknowledge the existence of an opposition, whose liberation, will derive from their ability to utilize the power of evasion. The power of anonymity has been displayed in the recent rise of the Anonymous movement. The irony of such an occurrence is that the lies and secrets, or evasions, conducted by states and reactionary groups and individuals, are being unmasked by an elusive group of subversives highly skilled in the art of evasion. The roots of techno are steeped in the headiness of the evasive act. Underground, clandestine, all night dance extravaganzas fueled by a rich desire to elude the dominant culture, with its emphasis on fame, wealth, and middle-class complacency. It is the duty of techno people to embrace these roots, and remember the role the act of evasion played in the foundations of techno culture. The goal of squatting a space, hauling a sound system in to the woods, or congregating in any other way to commune with others in ecstatic forms of dance, is to evade the humdrum world of consumerism and normalcy. This is not to say techno is escapist. Techno is creative, spontaneous, and vital. The goal of techno culture should be to build a new world of horizontal relationships, based on mutual-aid and human solidarity. A world of radical subjectivity coupled with the understanding we are social beings who rely on one another collectively. One way to get there is through the simple act of evasion. We must continue to evade those who seek to destroy our vitality, while continually designing new forms of social, political, and economic relationships not based on greed, over consumption, and the destruction of the living environment.

This mix is designed to get you through your evasion. Whatever it may be. Evading the police during a protest. Evading the army if they try to draft you. Evading your taxes when you no longer decide to support the state. Or, while you are just evading your routine duties in life, which is rather important and most enjoyable when accompanied by a techno soundtrack.

Enjoy,
Attentat
