and still... when you have an external drive, even thought it's very fast
you are making the data go through an usb port or a firewire port data transfer.

another thing is when u have an internal one connected to IDE, that's fast!
i don't think you will notice the difference if you buy one...

my decks is iBook G4 14" inch + (external drive) lacie d2 hard drive extreme 250 GB connect by FIREWIRE 400!!!
altered states!!!

we use lacie FW drives here at work, they seem pretty good...

we also have FireLite 80Gb Firewaire drives... they fit in your pocket and are awesome :)
