TIC TAC TOE RECORDS- The top-notch Danish label for minimal house & techno – is back with yet another release by our secret gem, Theodor Zox. This time remixed by US mastermind, Eric Estornel aka Maetrik.
Theodor’s debut, the “Red City EP“ on Tic Tac Toe number 3 made us very proud. It sold out very fast, gained a lot of very good feedback and was played by the worlds best DJ’s. Now, he is at it again with 2 new tracks, plus a remix of his fantastic laidback, melodic, but still clicky track from the “Noughts And Crosses“ compilation.
You might think of the soap opera and you might think of JFK. But not anymore. From now on, when someone says Dallas, think Maetrik. He’s been fusing house and techno into his own unique blend for a decade and already has proved his versatility in shaping beats and sound forms on an impressive back catalogue of releases on Treibstoff, Iron Box Music and more.
The EP starts out with Maetrik’s remix of “Extruder”. Maetrik has transformed the track from that laidback style on the compilation to a more dance floor oriented track. Using the pads and chords from the original track he leads us along teasingly – until, suddenly, the track explodes and we’re catapulted into a very summerish tech-house track. A great, great remix that moved us – and will move all of you as well!
B side first track is “Stalker” that is on the more minimal technoid side of things. A heeeaavy bass fuses perfectly into to the typical clicky Theodor style. When played loud, this track is a real mover!
Last track is “Nano Express” where Theodor struts even more of his clickish geniusness, creating what we believe to be his best tracks ever. The track starts out quite minimal, but you’ll soon be surprised by it’s very funky style, combined with the very nice pads, chords and themes. This track is a real dancer!

- Great Maetrik styled -track. I'm a fan of his tracks and this remix doesn't miss the target! Deep and melodic, yet slamming and funky. Great!
2. Nano Express:
- Somewhat reminds me of old Ferox -tracks, or Jeff Samuel's releases...
Cool (and again melodic) track with shuffled beats and funky and a bit corny/childish feeling. Funny (in a good way)!
3. Stalker:
- Darker track than the 2 others. Also not so much harmonies here. More hypnotic and yeh, grooves quite well!
Overall: 4/5, would play all. Quite versatile 12" with good melody-hooks.

I think the TTT11 isn’t the strongest record or something like that, but its a good record for DJing and conceptional sets.
The Maetrik remix is a little harmony hit for smooth sets. I think, I will play it a lot.

sub bass drives the crowd mad :-). i also like the b2 track.
