MF-101 Lowpass Filter

Post by tsankip »

Any of you guys have it? I was wondering how it works in combination with a drummachine or house and techno music in general for adding a bit of warmth. Is it possible to get both subtle and pretty distorted results with the drive knob? There were only guitar demos on youtube like with most of the pedals. Any alternatives?

I have one and use it all the time on house and techno. It definitely makes things sound nicer and warmer and the drive and the envelope follower knobs make it pretty versatile. You can get anywhere from a little warmth to a full-on grunge. Definitely recommended, particularly if you work mostly with digital sounds.

i have two, and when i was using alot of VA synths, it was the only way i could get them to sound warm and fat.
especially great for bass.

bulky and a little pricey perhaps, now that i'm modular based, i wouldnt buy one, i would just get a filter module of one type or another for half the price.

Are there any other good alternatives, prefebarly a stereo filter with some controllable analog distortion?

There's the Ebbe&Flutt by Schippmann. Not stereo and pricy though. I still badly want one! They sound sweet.

I wish Moog would produce a stereo multimode filter, it would be super useful.

Tons of options in the modular world too, if you want to go down that road.

there used to be the Allen & Heath stereo mulitmode but they stopped making them, you might be able to pick one up used.

Moonwind Analog Filter Tracker

is a true analog stereo filter with built-in step sequencer, a fantastic sounding digital FX chip, 2 LFOs and envelope modulation.
Everything is storable and controllable via Midi.
