Does anyone know of any cool boutique type digital download web-sites that specialise in undergroud house & techno? Basically, since Beatport has been "upgraded" I've experienced no end of problems with their audio player with tracks simply stopping dead during playback and then just sitting idle not skipping on the next track in my playlist. It's all a bit naff really. Plus they seem to have no regard for genre and I'm finding it hard to pin point the sound I am after without trawling through every genre / sub genre of house music listed on the site. To put it bluntly it's all getting a bit long winded when I should actually be checking out quality house & techno releases.
Anyone got any suggestions on alternative web-sites? I used to use www.stompy.com (USA based site, so cheap too) when I was into my more jackin' flavas but I've been on the deeper house & tehcno flex for a while now and they dont seem to cater for that sound as much.

If I were buying digital music I'd do it by listening to the clips on vinyl-oriented webstores like Juno, Decks, Piccadilly, Phonica etc. The good un's end up on vinyl anyway (my opinion, don't take it as the ultimate truth), why waste your time going through digital-only releases, when there's so many of them that you'll end up spending 10 hours a day on listening to crappy clips? Vinyl works as an ok quality filter, though there's of course tons of crap on vinyl too. The quality-quantity ratio is just a lot more manageable on vinyl, you can actually listen to practically all the releases from a few genres, without spending that 10 hours a day.

+1 to this, I still do most of my listening to new releases on Juno, Hardwax, etc, even if I end up buying some of it digitally.Barfunkel wrote:If I were buying digital music I'd do it by listening to the clips on vinyl-oriented webstores like Juno, Decks, Piccadilly, Phonica etc. The good un's end up on vinyl anyway (my opinion, don't take it as the ultimate truth), why waste your time going through digital-only releases, when there's so many of them that you'll end up spending 10 hours a day on listening to crappy clips? Whatpeopleplay is quite a nice site for buying digital.

the problem with doing that is you end hearing all the vinyl only stuff and get frustrated when you can't find it digitally.

Haha, very good point... doesn't affect me too badly as I still buy a lot of vinyl but it might not be the best course of action for digital-only guys!tone-def wrote:the problem with doing that is you end hearing all the vinyl only stuff and get frustrated when you can't find it digitally.

Sometimes traxsource has some stuff that the others don't have.
