Hardware Synthesizer: Analog // Digital // Virtual Analg

Hi!

im considering buying a hardware synth. As the subject suggest i am right now thinking about which kind of synth to buy - analog - digital - virtual analog -

would be great if someone could point out the characteristics of each!

besides analog, digital, virtual analog what else is out there?

i am mainly looking for a warm, fat sound. maybe a synth which could do both fat basses and melodic bleeps. plus morphing pads maybe... dunno how much is possible in one synth actually.
so that would also be a question.

is there a synth which can do all this stuff together? or better take one synth for one distinct purpose?

price is secondary -_-

Juno 60 can do most of those sounds... Personally I prefer analogue and a synth with controls so I can tweak and visually know how to sculpt a sound... Stay clear of anything that has you paging thru menu's...

yes, i think thats a good point! workflow should be as floating as possible

dont even think about it, if you've got the money buy the Voyager, its easily the best synthesizer out there. it's transformed my sound and ability to tweak live.

its total luxury, you'll never ever regret it.

dont buy a virtual analogue.

ive been a an analogue and virtual analogue hardware producer from the start, and i wouldnt touch a virtual analogue now. there is absolutely no comparison, a virtual analogue is dead and cold when compared to the Voyager.

i own a Nord 3 and Nord lead plus an Access Virus b.

i never switch them on. i would sell them if it wasnt for the fact that i've recorded so much of my music on them,
i wish that music had been made on the Voyager.

dont worry about the fact that its monophonic, its almost irrelevant, theres so many ways to get round that with modulation.

if money really isnt a problem than what about a studio electronics omega 4/8 voice analog synth? and you can have different filter boards.
