i wont pretend to understand it but..

¨An examination of neural responses in the auditory cortexes showed normal levels in the rats who were treated with the combination of stimulation and sound, indicating the tinnitus had disappeared¨

If this study translates to humans, it would be incredible. I was born with somewhat mild tinnitus, but it's been getting a bit worse over the past few years. Had my hearing checked two weeks ago and it's fine (above average, apparently), but it's kind of disconcerting when you lay down to fall asleep at night and hear the ringing.

I wish I could just plug a low-pass filter into my brain-ear connections at night.

As strange as this may sound

Try humming or singing the note you hear ringing

Makes mine go away in a spilit second

Wow, that actually helped a lot!!!!

I wonder why that works. I'm guessing its a psychological thing - makes the ringing seem quieter in comparison with the humming of the same frequency?

(this would be a lot easier if I was a soprano...)

Right nao, I'd trade my human life for one of these rats' for just one single short minute of silence.

It's especially bad today. :x
