For ALiVE Recordings landmark tenth release it is fitting that the gaffer steps up to deliver the goods. Tom Budden’s brand of deep tech house is at the heart of what has made the label’s first year a good one. Consistently hitting the mark with his own productions, Tom has developed a roster of artists for the label that combines emerging talent with some of the best-loved names around.

The Treedance is classic Budden. Deep but with a jacking edge, this shimmering, melodic tech groover has been built as much for the head as for the feet with its raw plucked riff that punctuates the sumptuous sonics that flow over a succession of well placed builds and drops.

Greg “Stryke” Chin takes a break from launching his new Three-O-Five label to provide an epic remix. Styrke has come up with a grand rework that takes the lush ambience of the original and ramps up the pressure with a twisted edge complete with dramatic hair-raising Detroit melodies.

Jim Rivers rounds off the package with a distinctive percussive take on the original. Using tight polyrhythms and ethereal chants to bring a tribal vibe to the track his mix fuses jittery sonics with rhythmical grooves to further blur the boundaries of electronic music.
