Mazee - Blue

New funky minimal track with a rubbery bassline. Let me know what you think, even if you hate it - I want to get better :)

I really like this track!!

I would personally do something about the snare, it feels a bit stuttering (I don´t know if thats the right word)
and I´m not so found of that arpegiatorsynth @ 3:45 its a bit "trancey"
but overall its a nice production!

Yes, I see what you mean, I might try to find something a bit less trancy for that part. Maybe a subtle pad or something.

I love this style :D

One thing I would like to mention: you make a very subtle style of music much like Cobblestone Jazz but your mixes sound hard, maybe this is intentional but I would love a smoother/softer mix.....

Keep up the good work!

Thanks very much mate, that's a real compliment. I'm only just in the process of developing my style, and although I've been producing on and off for a few months, I really am only just getting to grips with mixing in a subtle way. Lots of improvement needed, but a comment like that really helps keep me motivated, cheers!

Cool sounds. Funny...I just referred to my tracks as "rubbery" (thanks for listening, by the way), but that bassline is much more elastic!

I can't put my finger on it, but I feel as if this track needs some sort of anchor. Something more consistent that drives it along. I don't think I'm explaining myself very well...

Actually, if you look (and obviously listen) to the track on SoundCloud, you can tell that there are about 9 or 10 different sections (the first minute being the intro before the bassline section, 2.13-2.40 is kind of a breakdown, as is 3.45-4.16 (the "trancy gated pad" section)).

I think it might help if certain sections built up to the one following it, and when that section comes in (such as a bassline section) you have something that drops it in with greater emphasis.

Hopefully this makes sense. Production-wise this sounds nice. Cheers.

Yep I agree, I'm still struggling a bit on how to do creative transitions without resorting to the old cliches like a white noise sweep or pulling up the cutoff on a synth line. Ah well, it's all a learning curve.
