Video on creating kick drums out of non-zero crossings

Post by NickSoundDT »

I uploaded a video on making kick drums using non-zero crossings in waveforms today. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqPpVjqO4eI&fmt=18

Sorry about the video quality, but I tried to describe what I was doing in detail, so hopefully it's still helpful!

Interesting stuff. I must admit, I have never tried to make kicks from vocal snippets. I have only applied pitch envelopes to sine waves and traingle waves. I have a fair amount of waveforms which I use for experimenting with other percussive sounds made from FM and additive synthesis for additional and sometimes interesting harmonics into the sound. I do a lot of similar enveloping in Abletons Simpler too.

you (read: everyone) should post their YouTube videos with '&FMT=18' added onto the URL...it shows the original uploaded video. see the difference:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqPpVjqO4eI&fmt=18

there should be a post just about this feature, i think it would help alot of people's track IDs, for example.
thanks for uploading the video btw... :)

so, i normally dont spend money on these types of things... but i was convinced by some of the youtube videos and paid the 30$, and these videos are really great. definitely not regretting the purchase. i recommend it to anybody that wants a little more focused instruction on sound design than the little bits you pick up in forums. nice practical information and philosophy as well.

Wow, thanks for the really kind words everyone. I haven't been receiving updates to this thread like I thought I was supposed to, so it was a nice surprise to come back to these comments.

Thanks for your support!
