Troy Pierce on Mo's Ferry???

Post by Dave Martin »

Hi people,

Has anybody d/l the Mike Bryant mix of this and found that it's REALLY quiet. I can't play it out, it's so quiet.

Cheers

Yeah, I have noticed the levels are pretty low on it. It hasn't stopped me from being able to mix it with other, louder tracks though.

Simple solution...Use soundforge to normalize it.

It's not just quiet for me, it seems to be missing a bass in any kinda way.

No, Don't. Not a good idea. You might ruin dynamics.

Hmmm. Really? What about when recording records for use with final scratch? If you were to record the track at just below zero, and use peak normalization to set it at zero would that also have a potentially negative affect?

peak normalization is no problem, you don't loose anything... jp was mentioning some kinda rms normalization (you can do this too in soundforge), which usually implies some blind compression if you ask for a loud track...
