Not as big as it looks in the picture...
Allen & Heath do make a good product. Don't expect to get crazy and abuse a mixer like that, but it should sound alright. The eq's are fairly tiny and if you are like myself and really get into things physically when you're playing, you might not feel like it's got the best tactile control. Good console though. If it's cheap to the point that it's little more than a mild consideration on your part, go for it. If it's expensive enough that you'd consider it a "big purchase" for yourself and it would take a chunk out of your wallet for weeks to come, there are probably better choices for you.
Owning a first mixer is always nice though.
