After a lengthy break we are back with a new release, distributed by beatport.com. After his debut ep on Underline Records sublabel 'Them' comes a hommage to the Nintendo massive by our friend Den from London. Old Skoool bleeps, zapps and aching thumbs courtesy of Den plus a fine selection of remixes by Mark-Henning (Clever Music, Freude am Tanzen, Foundsound, Einmaleins), Aoki Takamasa (FatCat, Progessive Form, OP.Disc), Nao Tokui (Progessive Form, OP.Disc), Den and Enssei (Clever Music).

Available to preview & purchase as mp3 or wav at beatport, here:

** NOTE: Mark-Henning's remix will also be available on vinyl soon - on Multivitamins Records 05!

-----------------------------------------------------

We at Clever don't trust typical histories of electronic music. F*ck Larry Levan. It all started with Atari who begat NES who begat Gameboy who begat SNES who begat N64 who begat Game Cube. Meanwhile Master System got jiggy and begat Genesis who begat Sega Dreamcast who begat Sega Saturn who begat Sony Playstation who begat X-Box who begat (skip a few generations) ... begat Hawtin who begat Villalobos who begat Magda who begat … skip a few generations… begat one bad motherf*cker called Den. How else do you explain the love of dumb bleepy music and the ability to stare at brightly coloured screens for hours while pushing buttons incessantly? An Ode to DS is a homage to the roots of minimal, dudes and dudettes ...

Insert coin. Old school flavours of the Nintendo massive on Den's stripped, zapping and bleeping original, while Mark-Henning injects some Playstation flavour with nasty Shinobi style bass that will cut yo ass. Aoki Takamasa plugs in his multiplayer joypad and wrecks that sh!t like Mario dropping a mushroom, pushing the glitched-up noises to a tee. Next up, Den flexes his gaming muscles in a Gauntlet dungeon-stylee on the remix, while Nao Tokui rocks some Street Fighter styles with his tripped out reinterpretation. Sonic boom. Enssei pulls off a finishing move, dragging the joystick away from the other dudes and getting a highscore with sh!t hot percussion reminiscent of Sega's classic Streets of Rage 2 mixed with shades of Out Run. Game over.

We hope you enjoy! As usual, we are always on the lookout for new music so drop us a line to get involved.

Cheers.
