Ben Nevile

"Information about Ben Nevile is scarce, but we do know that he's a DJ living in Vancouver. Rumor has it he designs brand new ways to make and perform house music with computers. Friends of Ben from Winnipeg, his prairie home for more than 20 years, say that he was often late for class, and that he was a big fan of the TV shows Degrassi Junior High and Little House on the Prairie. Credible sources confirm that he now prefers to live without a TV." (context)

for me one of the producers i could buy each release.
he was a very important man for telegraph records, and works as a programmer for cycling 74.

The Vancouver and Fairfield EP on CONTEXT, which contains the track "PTR" is THEE most breath-taking piece of music in my collection. I'll never forget the first time I dropped the needle on this track....PURE CATHARSIS! You know that feeling, in your gut! I HIGHLY recommend hunting this one down...simply ASTONISHING!

I have the same with 'gimli girl' on the 'white belly ep' (Mosaic). It's a song that came instantly close to me, a very warm, dazy lovingly tune with a spark of melancholy

Got some news of Logistic/Telegraph Records today, a new album coming up from Ben Nevile.

BEN NEVILE - Joseki TEL018CD/LP

"Every noise i make comes from hardware, and I use drum machines to sequence everything. I send the midi output
of the drum machines into the computer and write computer programs to interpret the incoming data. This allows me
to inject all kinds of randomness into the music and make it sound organic. I like to compose interactively. I really don't like
working in the left-to-right space of a typical program like Logic or Cubase." Watch out Ben Nevile's first album !

No release-date given yet though.
"I won't be in today, boss...I'm feeling a little mnml."

tell me about it. been looking for this one for a long, long time - without any luck, unfortunately. Will keep looking, tho!

also check the 'pender island ep' on telegraph - no club fodder on the surface, but structures to fall in love with ....

I read somewhere that he uses homemade midi controllres using video game joysticks and pads. That's pretty dope if it's true and even if it's not his stuff has still always been fresh. Joseki is superb!
