Just one thing, you have to watch out for what i call the livesets.com syndrome. Once they where a nice forum with an nice community but they decided that they wanted to grow as big as possible. Now look at what happend to them. They have a huge user base but all the topics have become topics with posters that only say: "yeah me to". There is no serious music discussion going on there anymore. They also tried making a frontpage which the way i look at it has no inreseting content at all. Just some news items copied from other websites. The way i look at it they have become a victim of their own succes.

Yes, I´ve been afraid of that happenning to mnml.nl also, and I aknoledged this to rest of the crew.

From my side I would like to keep mnml.nl like it is unless we have something really rocking to offer (wich is I think what we are preparing now)

But still we have to be very careful on this issue, and not be like any other livesets.com, ump3.de, partyflock.nl or beatfreax.nl

I would not only donate .. I would make a point to get together with close friends have a wonderful time and donate material for any projects that may come to mind.

not change a thing....

meaning continue:

no adds / no donations on the main page..
keep it in a spot only on the (front) page and/or only while logging in

or perhaps (only) in the inbox where you write a message.

perhaps send a polite message from the heart asking those that have enjoyed the board to please consider ..

perhaps send that email once a season.

Why do you have a releases forum on this board Isa?
Isn't that because you want labels and producers to tell others about their releases?
I still can't see no paypal button anywhere, I can't see any banners, I can't see anything different still.
As I wrote and we have discussed on msn also. I have seen other boards trying this before, and it's never successfull to ask the users to pay. That's just straight up reality. If you want somebody to pay you should ask the labels, clubs and so on to pay for advertisement, but then again, you don't want banners.
