I'm not sure, but do you mean automation with a (midi)controller??
- Press MIDI in the upper right corner (Assiginable things in Live become highlighted)
- Click on the control you want to assign
- Turn a knob/press a key etc on your controller
- Press MIDI again (step 1)
In record mode every turn on the knob etc will be recorded...

In Ableton you can easily draw automation:tmp wrote:ah ok... it is not what i searched for but it also works!
in FL i can do an automation with a tool.
there i can specify the function (sin,cos,etc...) and link it to a control.
- Go to the arrangement view
- Unfold a track (for example audio 1) by clicking the triangular button next to the track name
- Then you can select the envelope you want to edit (for example the track volume or panning etc)
- The rest is easy!
This way you can also automate EVERY parameter in a VSTi-instrument.. Only you must choose the VSTi name in the list after step 2 I explained before
