Does anyone know how portishead ( as well as a thousand other groups) create that rolling/pitched up baseline that they use in the song "It could be sweet," off of their "Dummy" album. If you know that album, , then you kow the sound I'm talking about. It sounds like a bass drum pitched real low and made to sound like a bass, but they make that bass-like sound roll with in pitch. it's a very unique trick and it would be perfect for a trakc I'm working on.
In this clip, the part first apears at 0:03, and then again at 0:05, where you can hear it very clearly.
Any ideas?
here is a link to the song( just a quick 10 second clip): http://s62.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2W0Z ... YFJHUM9J1H

it is probably just a pitch bend on a keyboard. i may be wrong tho. but that is the way i would do it.
