thanks for advices.i think i m going for doepfer pocket dial :)
but one last silly question of me.actually i've never had an experience with a midi device (my oxygen 8 connected via usb).i have a audiophile 2496.do i need anything else to connect doepfer,or i'm just gonna connect midi outs of soundcard and doepfer.thanks for your patience anyway

you need midi cabel to connect midi-out on pocket dial to midi-in on audio card.
i got my doepfer pocket control yesterday. such a sweet thing ;) it's a joy controling vsts with it.

I have both a UC33 and an oxygen8.

I've been using them for a couple of years now, at home and playing live. I would say whatever type of controller you get make sure it is tough enough to last. My UC33s' screen died within a couple of months, sure it still works, but I can't configure it.

After having a look at Monolake's controller, I am going to build my own custom controller based on the midibox format.
