There was a bit of news about this somewhere, probably Resident Advisor, but I can't remember exactly where.
Curious about the tracklist :D

If it is true, I hope he wont do that '15 unreleased romanian tracks' mix. I'd like to hear something more like Zip did with his fabric mix.

yeah i dont get why they feel the need to use unreleased tracks
even dettmann did it, its a thing now.

maybe they think, if they play released tracks, people will not like it.

zip was the only one in a while who did exactly what was intended in my opinion - just go to your collection and pick 15 records and make a mix.

most of the DJs now think they have to gather all the unreleased tracks they can find and pack them into a mix.

when i think about the mixes i loved the most in my life, its all mixes where i own now most of the tracks in the mix - thats cause i could buy them, they influenced me, so the DJ influenced me with his selection for that mix. i dont think this is possible with a mix of unreleased stuff. doesnt mean it cant be a good mix, but it will be forgotten soon.

a chance missed for a dj in my opinion.

Mix CD is not "popular" or "important" like it was in 90's or early 00's. There are plenty of mixes online available for free that are better than commercial ones. Podcasts, promo mixes, live recordings, etc.
Since commercial dj mix does have to be special in some way so it can be "standout" in the sea of mixes today and stick around for couple of years, it is easier, imho, to pack it up with unreleased tracks than select 15 tracks "which will be put together in special way that you will listen to it again in couple of years and say "wow, this was/is masterpiece ahead of its time".
With unreleased tracks it is "special, not ordinary, interesting", and hopefully won't grow old soon. Also, you have nice platform to release your music.

I'm quite interested if any of commercial dj mix released in last couple of years will become "classic" and worth listening in lets say 5 years from today.

yeah im also interested if some of them prevail

i just doubt it, cause the tracks used cant stay relevant for more than a very short time, cause nearly nobody can play them cause they are not available.

can a unreleased track EVER become a classic? i dont think so
so why should a mix of unreleased tracks.

but time will tell :)
