September sees us fly in one of the most (if not THE) in demand producer and remixers du jour – KiNK, to perform some of his own material in an exclusive live show and also to play us some of his favourite records in a DJ set as well.
KiNK a.k.a. Strahil Velchev hails from Sofia in Bulgaria and is one of a new breed of Eastern European DJ/Producers who are currently taking the dance music world by storm. Like most people, he got into dance music through going to raves as a teenager and soon after, at the age of 20 he was buying one of the first software synthesizers.
After spending 7 years honing his skills to perfection, he released his first record on Chris Duckenfield's Odori label back in 2005 and since then, his obvious talents have earned him releases and remixes on a multitude of prestigious labels such as Rush Hour, Josh Wink's Ovum, Steve Bug's Poker Flat, Mule Musiq, Get Physical and liebe*detail.
It's not hard to see why KiNK has gained so much attention in such a short space of time – his sound is an uncompromising mix of old school technical know how and use of analogue equipment, mixed with modern production techniques and digital finesse whilst constantly pushing himself and his tools to the limits of their creative powers.
For this reason, we thought the best way to showcase his extraordinary talents would be to not just ask him to DJ for us, but to also perform his own records and remixes as part of his fantastic high octane live show.
