High pass your kick at 80? I thought the "click-kick" was an old thing to do by now.

i wouldn't high pass my bass at 25Hz. high passing bass is the worse thing you can do.

33Hz is the orgasm note.

Hey tone def can i ask you why you think 33Hz is the orgasm note? im kinda interested hah

thanks

Question: If you're working with a really low bass sound, is timbre very important? I think that at some point, the sound can kind of lose form and become just a low pitched noise. Should I agonize over programming unique bass sounds, or will a simple sine suffice?

At very low frequencies the bass is more felt than heard. So a sine or filtered saw would suffice. You can then layer that (sub)bass with more interesting timbres on higher frequencies.
