you will always have artifacts/tradeoff when converting to mp3.
these can be inter sample peaks aswell as typicall artifacts due to mp3 encoding filtering. these things also happen when you convert from 96kHz to 44.1kHz or similar conversions.
Don't worry too much about it.
Converting to mp3 trouble
the .wav is not "unmastered" as I clearly stated that's the output of Voxengo Elephant (a mastering limiter).thomasjaldemark wrote:its kinda funny because it seems the mp3 file looks better than the wav
if you have a wav looking like that for an unmastered track then you really need to learn how to mix a track...
All the same, i'm definitly no pro at mixing, so you if you're really that good at mixing a track i'm all ears for some advices.
and thanks the rest of you guys for your info, i guess i got a little worried for nothing. thanks =)

I'd go about it like this - http://www.mnml.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php ... 8&start=15
with Live I'd use the re-sample channel (Audio from: Resampling) for "exporting"
and it's advised to use dithering in downsampling process later.

we are all atomic and subatomic particles and we are all wireless...
thanks robot, i didn't see that thread.
The Torque post in there was really helpful. I actually rendered by resampling, and when converting that to mp3 the difference to the wav (at least visually) was smaller than with the original wav.
kind of offtopic, but in case anyone is interested i uploaded the track in questionhere : http://soundcloud.com/levymusic/r_de_ruido
is not really mnml, but more of an electro track.
I'm not really satisfied with the mix so if anyone is willing to give some feedback i'll be happy
