Since his first piano lesson in second grade, music has been a part of Michael Amerine's life, but nothing took a hold of him like Electronic Dance Music. After hearing a few mix tapes, he was captivated by this new sonic landscape and its bleak images of the aftermath of industrialization juxtaposed with the futuristic sounds of unexplored space. Mike began learning all he could about electronic music, but it wasn't until he stumbled across a dance event in a converted warehouse space and seeing the music presented live that he decided he could no longer be a spectator to the movement. At 17, he got his first turn tables and by the time he moved to Kalamazoo Mi to attend WMU, his DJing had come into its own. There, he discovered the various and specific styles of techno music.

He has been moving underground and club dance floors ever since with a style inspired by Detroit's dark, stripped down mechanical sound that also takes cues from the funky soul of Chicago ; a reflection of his residence directly in between the two cities that pioneered electronic music. Mike holds residencies with Sonic Synergy and Bump Cafe of Kalamazoo, and Profound Sound Productions in Detroit. He has hosted one-off and weekly events under the moniker LowerFrequency Productions. In addition to headlining bills, he has opened for many Detroit and Chicago locals and legends, as well as international headliners. His dynamic and diverse sets are equally at home in an underground venue or an upscale lounge.

Music production was an obvious progression for Michael Amerine, and he has been pursuing this endeavor since 2007. His first release is slated for the summer of 2009 on Dableeq Records.

Released: 23rd May 2009
