my goal is to have all of the paxahau archives at some point. i have a majority of it, and they hate me for it.

and i'm sure rich will read this and report it back to jason huvaere.

oh well.
i don't get that. WHY should they hate YOU for that ?
he can report whatever he pleases. couldn't care less.

from the moment they decide to publicise these sets ONLINE, it is
USELESS to cover them up with all that flash-embedded menu crap
to prevent people from ripping them or whatever.

it's like the "right-click disabling" process for images.
which is only rude, not effective. it only provokes people to find a way
to acquire the fuckin image, even by pressing Print Screen & pasting it
in Photoshop.

and let's not get started on how legitimate is the whole
"buy-a-paxahau-tshirt-and-get-a-free-cd-(but-only-one-per-tshirt)" process...

my 2 cents on good ol' paxahau.

lets just say i've had members of paxahau tell me they're disappointed in me for doing this in person, over the phone, and via e.mail.

and they've expressed their disappointment for years.

then again, i'm the only one that openly does it in detroit. there's tons of people overseas that do it, yet they get no flak, i'm sure.

you can't copywrite a live recording. plain and simple.

i can't believe all that.
i've seen some similar threads in DLuv, if i remember well, and it's all bull$hit.

those guys should really spare the crap and be straightforward. share the damn sets, or don't.
standing somewhere in the middle and require "donation money" as an alternative way of selling
them, is totally unacceptable. Even with the artist's consent (each one who mixed the sets),
they could never get a copyright, as a bunch of other people's work is involved, for each track
featured in each set. it's just ridiculous.

reducing the sound quality on the sets they put online should be enough for them.
how dumb can they be expecting people not to rip them? and get angry to the ones that do it?

duh!

yeah, i've been screaming the same story over and over. its either do 100% or don't. don't walk a line in the middle and piss on everyone that figures out a way around it, or give people this "it'll cost you 5$" stuff.

i don't really care. like i said, its on the internet now, and its free to stream, so i can listen to it and do whatever i want with it. if they have a problem, so be it. don't post it if its that big of a deal.

the other side of it is no one i know is selling them again, or rebroadcasting them. everyone i've ever talked to that has done the same thing downloads them for their own use, maybe shares them to a few people via slsk or what have you, and thats it. i can see them pitching a sh!t-fit over me or anyone else broadcasting them over a netradio, or worse yet, over-the-air radio all over detroit.

but no one is that stupid.

i understand that paxahau runs detroit, for the most part. without them, we'd be totally and royally fucked and have zero parties worth attending. but you can't pull a high-and-mighty attitude about it, either. yes, you have brought in and recorded some of the finest talent and music the world has ever offered...but don't hoarde it like its gold and bark at those that just want to enjoy it as well.
