Fanfare: in both English and French, the word refers to a celebratory display, and TuningSpork Records gladly sounds the trumpets to escort in the debut EP from Parisian producer Djebali. (No, not DJ Ebali.) Mehdi Djebali is the newest member of the TuningSpork family, although he is also representing Freak ‘n’ Chic for their weekly residency at Paris’s Batofar club throughout this summer. A recent graduate of the sound engineering program at the SAE Institute-Paris, Djebali is a studio professional, but is careful to balance his technical ability with soul, true to the TuningSpork manifesto. Fanfare delivers three tracks of groove-filled house, perfect for the terrace or a dark, smoky hall.
