For future reference daimond tip is shape as the name says, like a daimond and "sits" in the groove. It gives the best sound because it makes maximum contact, but also causes maximum wear. i just had the choice between getting new needles for the ortofon or getting new systems including needles for about the same price. and then i decided to go for the at systems.
