For releases and future projects please scroll past the introduction :)

The people behind the now defunct Virus-B23 have been working on a new direction for the output of electronically influenced music. The new venture is an entirely free netlabel, with releases being released on a creative commons license for the availability of anybody.

An Introduction to Myuzyk

Myuzyk's output comprises of varying styles and forms of electronic music, from beatless ambience and soundscapes to music written for the dancefloor. Our policy is open with regard to the inclusion of different genres, without attempting to ride the coat tails of the latest "in" sound. Recording artists contributing to Myuzyk come from the UK and elsewhere around the planet: some with releases on widely known labels, trying out new ideas and sometimes different material to their recognized sound; others from the magical land of the bedroom producer.

Myuzyk is run by Henry Wilhelm; he also tends to the design and releases. The rest of the team share a passion for contemporary music and artforms and help out with various aspects of the label. Myuzyk is a non-profit venture existing solely to help spread music to hard drives, digital audio players and possibly some gigs in the future.

"As a netlabel standards must still be kept. Integrity and belief in the music is everything, you can be assured that there will be no half measures being poured here. The changing landscape of music culture and a large amount of listeners maturing and refining their tastes and habits means that the home may get as much audio lavished on it as the dancefloor. Myuzyk intends to bring you the sounds of celebration and contemplation, beats and spaces, the exploration of two poles of music wrapped up in free digital releases."

Please visit myuzyk's website for further information, or perhaps submit any demos or sonic explorations that you feel would suit the agenda of this netlabel.

SCKE// | 1981

Myuzyk proudly presents the first release which is an album of engaging ambience and edited field recordings. The 1981 collection is specifically inspired from time spent by SCKE// in southern Spain as a child. The album is a documentation of audio memories, a sound diary that has been created years later.

“Really for me SCKE// is becoming about interacting with my environment, the real emotions and upliftment that comes when you step out onto the street and wrap your coat around you at the fresh biting of the air. The smell of smoke in the air in November or recalling the trickling sound of water or bucket and spade childhood memories on foreign shores.”

James Fox - Push Comes To Shove

Bleep house, wobbling bass, technoid rhythms and start stop instrumental hip hop born out of James Fox's home studio from a love of music that makes people want to dance. Ingredients are kept to the essentials and tweaked to create stripped down grooves and DJ friendly tracks.

Zwart Licht Kommando - The Back Exit

The third release is an archive of music offering a cross section of work from ZLK that was created in Noxgenus Studios between 1998 and the present. The title track is beatless and soothingly ambient and it contrasts the trance mix which is uplifting and anthemic. 'Dynachord' is reminiscent of an era of techno built from uncompromising beats that soundtracked many a dark club night or party before it was all about haircuts and the brand of your clothing. Dubby electronics are explored within 'Titan' and 'Linear Thoughts' is an electro track brimming with analogue warmth.

Buben - Primogeniture

Left of centre rhythms and the sound of music coming undone is the thread that runs through this release. The opener, 'How Did This Century Begin?', cuts through a sea of interference with oddball rhythms. 'Our Own World' appears as galloping beats being ridden by gentle synth tones. 'Solar Seas' features back-forward elements pushing and pulling each other into a writhing mass of strange. The closing scene is 'The Interaction' which is the kind of music that wouldn't be out of place in a David Lynch film, a presence of something disturbing lurks amongst the beats and saxophone.

Inspired By Delia Derbyshire :
Plug Me In

It goes without saying that Delia Derbyshire is a key figure in the development of experimental electronic music and is remembered for her creative use of new technologies within the realms of sound. So, it is fitting that such a person was chosen as the first inspiration in this series of compilation albums that will be released in pairs and every six months through Myuzyk. A handpicked selection of recording artists have contributed their efforts and the results cross genres whilst playing on techniques and methods used by Delia during her time at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and at the Unit Delta Plus studio.

Thanks and salutes to everyone who took time out from their busy schedules to participate in this compilation.

Inspired By Boards Of Canada :
A Few New Tunes

From their beginnings of creating home recordings as children and self released material on Music70 onto releases through Skam to their hugely successful albums on Warp the Sandison brothers have gained cult status and a global following. Their inclusion of samples of religious cults, nods towards nature, geometry and mathematics in their music and track titles have added fuel to the hearsay and speculation amongst theorists and fans. For the second Inspired By album various recording artists have created music drawn from Boards Of Canada’s world of nostalgic electronics and evolving sound.

Thanks and salutes to everyone who took time out from their busy schedules to participate in this compilation.

File With Interpol - Northern Borders

Northern Borders sounds like it was sent to us from a timeslip in the nineties, gliding ambient arrangements and warm enveloping electronics with an urbane character fill the air. Crunchy percussion, delicate pads and strings are in equal measure throughout weaving heartfelt moments and memories into an accomplished album. The title track borrows the sample made infamous by Orbital - "Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day", and nods at a golden era of electronic music. The album is listening material for the travellers of inner and outer spaces brought to you by a musician and producer that understood the benefits of what is means to chill out long before the term became a tired expression.
