Gez Varley (aka G-Man)

Post by fredrik_h »

One of my absolute favourites ever within minimal tech stuff

Does anyone know what he's doing these days? I read in some interview that he was about to launch a label, but that interview was like 7 years old or something so I guess it never came through. Anyhow, he haven't released anything for years now. (unless I missed something)

he recently came out with a title called "graphite" on defrag sound processing which i picked up as soon as it was released cause it's that signature g-man sound that we have all come to know and love! check it, he's definately still kickin' it.

oh no, sorry about that - I knew he had released on DSP
(I even actually have it) ;)

I guess I forgot all about it while listening to avanti and his old quo vadis hehe, it just felt like it was ages somehow, also due the fact that he released so much full length stuff back some years.

but I didn't know he actually launched that label, unfortuanly, just like you say - it seems rather dead.

EDIT: hey anders, how about that narita release - is it out yet? the clips sounds like the god damn bomb anyway (especially clip 2, which I recall hearing in your liveset from club robot) - if the rest of the tunes are as good as the clips, it's probably the best I've heard so this year.

Pretty much pioneered today's "mnml" sound of blending techno, house and dub with sparse elements.
