12 bit?

Post by AK »

I use Wavelab for audio editing/making samples etc but I want to make some 12 bit sounds, only there's no option for this in there. It's either, 8, 16, 24. Does anyone know if there's any software that will allow me to resample at 12bit?

Although dedicated software certainly exists, you could take your 24bit sample and drop the volume to half, then boost it up again. Some audio programs maintain even higher sample rates internally, just to allow the aforementioned type of operation without losing quality, so exporting after lowering the volume, and loading that and boosting will force the bit depth change.

for the price of them you may as well grab an old akai s900 / 950. I know they don't bring much because I sold mine for around £100 :)

There are some really good downsamplers available in vst/au format.

This is one of the best.
