Smallpeople Stringpad

Post by DeeperDub »

Hi,

i'm trying to get a pad/stabsound comparable to this one (in the background from beginning)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzKq25t0 ... ata_player

tried it with a string stab played with operator, sidechained, added chorus and reverb,
But the result still sounds to "static"

Maybe some tips of someone...

it sounds sampled imo.
you could try recreate it of course, but won't be ever the same.

i think it's a distinctive sound of a high end digital harmonizer like Eventide H3000, or Pitchfactor. Or else samples of someone else using one.

It's pretty popular sound and it's distinctive. You need to feed it with a good sound source to start with.

have you got the right keys pressed?

you can make these sorts of sounds on pretty much all polyphonic synths. If you're itb then atmosphere would be a great place to start.

when i'm trying to get that sound i played around with some 5 or 7 note chords, which sounded quite well for the beginning...

Take a physical modelling synth which has strings modelled into it, add a bit of reverb and bandpass with a broad Q. If the exact chord is important, I think it's Maj7 at G. Also, have more decay and less sustain on the ADSR and make the pad 4/4 long.

hey everybody,
if you are still interested in how to create that sound, here comes the answer:

the pad/string sound wich is all over the track comes from a kurzweil k2000 and there a 2 factory presets called
Grand Strings and Piano&SloStrings
we recorded and resampled the sound at some parts.

get your hands on this machine , cause its the sh!t !

peace
