Tried Peak... it makes me export/save as to convert my mp3s before doing anything with them... I just want to seemlessly open them and use them as I would a wav

Anyone familiar with Cool Edit 2000 in pc land will know exactly what I am talking about. I might set up a PC and use it for all my sample editing and weird sampling experiments, but I shouldn't have to..

I second this notion. Great editor; none of the fluff or bloat of cubase/peak.

A friend of mine uses DSP quattro... I personally didn't like the interface, but it's another good option for appleheads out there.

i think you need to have a 3rd party mp3 converter installed in order for peak to do this... otherwise it just greys out the option to export as mp3

The version I had opened them but made you "resave" them first as .aiffs or whatever.
