@BLM:
As i just got M4Live, do you have any particular sequencer you'd recommend? I've been using live native clips until now, but very eager and curious to try the god ones that max msp has to offer.

the first one is the stock sequencer that comes with max4live and its just called 'step sequencer'. i suppose its alike the Matrix in Reason, which is why I started to use it.
The other one im getting good results with is called ML-185. its free to download from the user library.

Re: Sequencing + max/msp
to be honest they are both really fantastic and have changed the way I make music.
What i really like is that you can route and record the midi coming from the step sequencers into a new midi channel so you can actually see the notes plotted on the piano roll as they are recording. So what I do is record some variations on the step sequencer in midi and then go back and edit the midi after to create the patterns I want.
they also both have a random button, which obviously is great when one is stuck in a rut.
JonasEdenbrandt - I would love to have a play around on your sequencer. could you upload the file for me please?

Hey this discussion is great I have comments on a ton of stuff but am in a hurry to get to school so will have to wait.
On uploading the patch. Yes i will. Just need to spend some more time on getting it stable and in some sort of state that some one else could understand it.
