Luciano INTERVIEW (please move if necessary!)

Post by e99 »

The name Luciano sends a quiver down the spine of many a discerning house ‘n’ techno lover. Part of the Swiss-Chilean Tech Mafia (doesn’t quite have the same ring, does it?) alongside Ricardo Villalobos and Dinky, he began DJing back in 1993 in his native Chile, putting on parties in Santiago in the mid-‘90s, before exploring the other side of his heritage by moving to Switzerland in 2001. It was there that his career as a producer, live act and DJ started to reach serious heights, and that he became part of the underground electronic music cognoscenti. His label Cadenza consistently delivers sensual, groovy dance music from the likes of Serafin, Rhadoo, Pier Bucci, Andomat 3000 and Loco Dice, and his various productions rarely fail to impress – but it’s as a world class DJ that he’s achieved his elevated status.

His worldwide appeal has no doubt grown largely thanks to his regular appearances at Circoloco at DC10 in Ibiza, where he’s lain waste to thousands of freaky clubbers, but on these shores it’s fabric in London that he’s most commonly affiliated with. His epic, prolonged early morning sets join the groovy dots between old school house, chunky, jacking tech house and the more melodic, warm side of techno music, and with a new mix CD for them now in the bag and lined-up for release, his relationship with the scene-leading club has never been stronger. We talked about that very CD, his forthcoming artist album, back-to-backs, and who the biggest clown in dance music is....
