Richie Hawtin

Post by Arnold S »

Haven't seen this one as often as I thought I'd would..
Perhaps it's not as cool as saying Mathew Jonson or Troy Pierce is your favo mnml dj but Hawtin always has been my favourite. Seen him about 4 times, never disappointed, what more needs to be said then? I'm not sure, but perhaps the little get-together with Ricardo Villalobos that has been going on for a very long time it seems should end and Plastikman should reinvent himself in some sort of way? Anyhew, other favo mnml dj's are Reinhard Voigt, Alexander Kowalski, Joris Voorn, Steve Bug and Alex Smoke

edit: just saw there already is one topic on RH, my apologies

Totally looking forward to the next DE:9 mix cd. The last one is still on rotation in my cd player. Can't believe it has been four years already!

Perhaps not as exciting or glitchy as his peers (Magda, Troy Pierce etc) but undeniably skilled and technoligically minded. A real talent.

when he is at his best (jak2001), there is no comparison.

what always keeps me showing up to his performances is the number
of tracks i hear that i do not recognize...always amazed by the huge
number of really sick unknown tracks that he not only plays but fucks
with like none other.

saw him here in portland, oregon just recently and he absolutely rocked. there is a noticeable difference between what even a great dj/producer does and what he's doing. the feel to his performances is like no other.

he is the man!
