The Beatport Sound
The Beatport Sound
I'm new to production and see this forum as the lodestar for house/techno. I commonly hear about the "Beatport top 10" sound and would like to avoid making it, playing it, or generally being involved with it. I have my own idea about what it is everyone refers to, but would like to hear from the horse's mouth.
Re: The Beatport Sound
as much as i hate certain music, i still think you should produce whatever you like.
as for "Beatport Sound" its obviously not a technical term, that someone could describe to you exactly.
i think it mostly refers to tracks that are made with certain sounds that are mostly used in huge commercial productions. additionally if your track follows too much a certain formular.
for example this is a mashup of beatport tracks who sound all the same
you could do something similar with "deep house" or "minimal" on beatport.

OK, so it's more EDM rubbish than the stuff I necessarily thought. I heard Breton mention that Mr G has Beatport-ish tunes. Would love to know which ones he thinks are that!

It's a little bit sad.
There's the cheesy EDM 'beatport top 10' sound, but there's also the 'beatport tech house' sound which I think breton talks about. I couldn't describe it or show examples for you though.MlclmDXXX wrote:OK, so it's more EDM rubbish than the stuff I necessarily thought. I heard Breton mention that Mr G has Beatport-ish tunes.
Get busy listenin', or get busy dyin'.
