just to give the set more life and to make it feel live.

otherwise it just sounds like the same as a mix from the house/studio

I don't really want people to feel like they are there, more that they wish they were.

I like hearing peoples reactions to the tracks in sets. Nothing hipster about that.

I understand completely. so no need for a line in... what I posted should work.
basic field recorder should be just what you need..

if you can john, pls explain how :D

not sure if you can... great question for the sales guy...lol..
after the above post.. its more clear what he wanted.. just something with sound & crowd noise..
that is what I assumed from the start. Not sure if it would be possible... if it was, I'm sure you getting into the $200 range + Im sure... even then it may not be possible. that's like Sound Fordge recording two things at once on different channels. . It's a stretch if you ask me but then again some of those are also some of the newest new technology.

i like when you listen to sets on line and can hear the audience.

it's a little like the 'canned laughter' on american sitcoms to me, or at least it works in the same way.

John listed the best one. That WB set is really legendary.

Another great example is Sven Vath @ Boiler Room Berlin: http://boilerroom.tv/sven-vath-120-min-mix/

One of the best musical journeys I've heard in a long time—all vinyl, amazing—with just the right amount of crowd noise and even then only in certain spots.

I'm playing this one right now on my new Genelec 1037's and the studio is shaking (in a good way). Papa Sven still rocking out. There's nothing quite like two great records competing for energy with the crowd coming through here and there.
