hm cant give you an scientific explanation, but i think its common knowlege that you should position them more like a triangle.

In a near-field monitoring situation. Yes, the HS80Ms are near-field monitors, but in that configuration in a room of that size, they're not directional.

Phasing no occuring. They're hooked up by XLR (or if I wanted, TRS): phasing would only occur if you switched the polarities. For example, if they were a pair of HiFi bookshelf or floorstanding speakers, and you swapped on one side the RCAs (red-white; white-red).

Two mixers? Choice. Mixing hip-hop, drum'n'bass or hard techno on a rotary isn't as much as you'd think.

Record weights? A lot of my tunes come mail order, and often get bowled. Get a fair few that aren't 180 either, so adds a little more substance when cueing.
