a track for review AND gear news.

Post by kevin h »

instead of waiting for the forum to split, i'll offer a track for review and some gear news.

flstudio 6 will be out mid december, many enhancements.

check out the buddha machine $23 USD from forced exposure
http://www.fm3.com.cn/buddhamachine.htm apparently brian eno bought 8 of them on sight

a new track as well, i think you'll like it more than the last.

thanks man,

you're right about the tic-toc sounds, they need more variation.

there is soooo much detail to address if you really want to make nice tracks.

id like to ask people like: troy pierce, mathew jonson, rajko müller etc.
how long they worked at producing music before feeling comfortable sending their stuff to labels.

i wanna ask the same questions, my productions are self admitedly sh!t, but getting better. basically i make cool audio experiments but have no patience to extend them into tracks, and to detail them perfectly is an absolute nightmare. im thinkin of something along the lines of ricardo villaloboses for disco only 2 tracks ( morphunk mormax ) how much fucking time it must have taken to do those ?

Track Review

Post by kenada »

The kick needs some eq boost around the 70hz range, it sound thin and pokey where it is now.

All the filtering effects are panned dead centre, try adding some pan to them to not only widen the mix, but it will free up more psca eand give the track and much better less cluttered sound.

If it were up to me I'd shorted the hat samples and then use a reverb to make them longer, this way you have the option of playing with the reverb tail, either dropping it all together or making it bigger to change up the track.

I think the amount of vairance and progression in this track only warrants about 4-5 mins. It's seeming to drag on a bit.

I hope this has been of some assitance to you.
