Re: Drum machine for making heavy kicks?

Not a huge fan of Jomox kicks. Too boomy, too boinky, not enough presence or energy.

An attempt at making techno in 5/4, using a Nintendo DS

Here's my latest track. As the title suggests, it uses a non-standard (for techno anyway) time signature, 5/4. Created with a Nintendo DS, which unfortunately doesn't allow for different lengths of tracks, so polyrhythms are impossible. https://soundcloud.com/user4904810/time-in-a-techno-tribute-to

Re: New mnml tune, made with a Nintendo DS

Thanks! I have a bad habit of making my tunes too bassy, no matter what equipment I use.

Here's a new techno tune I made this morning:

New mnml tune, made with a Nintendo DS

Here's my latest minimal tune, made with a Nintendo DS, using an app called Korg M01. My Allen & Heath DJ mixer does a bit of EQ and filtering, to boost things up.

Re: Techno made with a Nintendo DS

Haha that's really cool! I actually kinda like it. But there's no way the DS is 10 years old! You're correct, it's actually 9 years old, I just checked. Not that it makes a huge difference, the point was that it's not exactly a powerhouse with it's 4MB of memory, 67MHz processor and stuff. A fun to...

Techno made with a Nintendo DS

Here's something different: I don't have the money for real gear (or even software) at the moment, so I'm making music with my trusty 10-year old Nintendo DS, using a program called M01. There's no EQ, no filters, no compressors, no sampling, just some crappy preset 12-bit sounds that sound like rej...

Re: Deep House

Deep house is the main genre I'm interested in. People like Kerri Chandler, Theo Parrish, Larry Heard, Moodymann etc are heroes to me. Unfortunately, I suck at making it. I don't have the soul (or whatever it is that takes to make quality deep house). Whenever I try, it turns out as too bland, too g...

Re: How to create this Aril Brikha synth

Groove La Chord was apparently made with just an R8 drum machine and an Ensoniq SQ-80. Amazing what people with talent can do with minimal equipment.
