I'm not sure how having a hard on would alter the experience of seeing your mate band play though? different strokes for different folks I guess haha. I've collaborated over gmail/yousendit for composing to video, though for music I would go with setting up a Gmail drive you can both have access to and an instant messenger with voice chat capability: then you can play your low bit rate 'rough draft' "do you like this?" sounds over the IM...

This is something that's affected me recently. Since I began making more polished compositions, it's raised my standards to the point where I just switch off what I'm working on - because I know that for the last X amount of hours, I've not pushed the track any further than the initial 20-30 minutes...
