I like my MD for sound design but I hate it for real time interaction, I don't like the interface design choices. I definitely need to try a Maschine and see if it is worth selling my MDUWmkII.

automating filter cutoff with lot's of resonance can get you nice clicks and pops like that. Also try modulating a synth for those sounds instead of samples.
