what kind of midi plugin are you using? if i understand right, you don't need the 3rd midi track. 2nd to that. Why not just set the Absynth track to "MIDI from: 1 MIDI" and monitor "in" yeah that's a faster way, and i've asked myself the same question. But maybe AK has a good re...

i've recreated your post,
and i think you've forgot to set your monitor to 'in'

this is how i did it , and it worked
the midi from on channel 1 has to be your midi keyboard.
